NICU Day 29

We have had a very good day with Will being back on the ventilator. After deciding not to breathe last night by being off the ventilator the doctors made the decision to put him back on last night (see previous post). He rode the ventilator most of the night and has been letting it breathe for him some of today. He has been getting his regular feedings that are at 12ml and has been taking those well. Get this, he is taking corn oil to boost his fatness. His weight is back up to 600 grams or 1lb 5oz. So right now, our focus is to let him continue to rest, gain his strength back, gain some weight, and try him off the ventilator sometime in another week. This is very common for preemies his size, they come off and go back on. His lungs are not fully developed yet but will in time as he grows and gains weight.

After everything that we went through last night, I flipped on the radio to Sirius XM and listened to The Message and heard this song playing and I literally wept because this describes exactly how we have felt throughout this whole journey. We know we are not alone and we can carry any burden or worry we have to the cross and lay them all down at Jesus's feet and he will love and comfort us and bring us back to where we need to be. Which is directly back into his loving arms, trusting and knowing that he will provide and take care of our Will.
