Christmas with the Penny's

A week before Christmas we had Christmas with Doug's side of the family. His brother and sister in law and kids came in from TN for the day and we had a blast visiting, eating, and watching the kids open presents and play together.

Santa Brunch at the Club

The Sunday before Christmas we met my parents and my family at the Tupelo Country Club to have a brunch with Santa. Will was very receptive to Santa and wanted to sit in his lap without crying. It did help that Santa gave him a candy cane. Also during our dinner Will kept yelling for Santa across the table who was across the room. He kept saying "Hey Santy Clause" "Come here Santy Clause." It was precious! I did get a few good pictures of our time with Santa.

Shopping, Parade, Seeing Santa, and more

We went to the Tupelo Christmas Parade and had so much fun. We met my sister, her kids and my parents there. Will enjoyed seeing the fire trucks, Santa, the Grinch, the dogs and the horses. He had a blast.

Later that week we went to go see Santa at the mall, shop, ride the horses (carousel), and eat in the food court. Will's reaction to Santa was the same as last year. He wasn't going to sit in his lap so Will stole Santa's chair and they read a book together.

Will also had Pajama Party at school

And of course Will wanted to "cheese" by the tree at home

Baby #2 Gender Reveal Party

December finally came and we were able to find out what Baby Penny #2 was. We put my friend, Christy Whitley, in charge. She was the best party planner and could keep this huge secret from us too!

The week before the party, Christy came down with the flu. Luckily, on Tuesday she had not ran fever and was fever free the rest of the week. She was still very weak but ended up doing an AWESOME job!

We tried to do a Christmas theme but ended up doing just Pink and Blue. Pinterest got me in trouble with this party because most of the ideas came from there. We did the food and she brought all the candies and decorations! It was a perfect day we will always remember and were so happy Christy was better and able to be apart of our day as she has been since Will was born!

The food

Pink and Blue gumballs

Pink and Blue oreo pops

He or She hershey bars

Fruit skewers with Blue fruit dip

The cake

We did the Reveal first because the cake had the blue or pink icing in the middle depending upon the gender. We were so excited but would be happy either way. I was pulling for GIRL but gut instinct was a BOY. Doug was pulling for a BOY but his gut instinct was a GIRL. It was exciting to see who was right! We asked our guests to wear Pink or Blue and we mostly had BLUE at the party! I wonder why!!

The box with the secret

One excited BIG BRO

Carefully taking my time

What is in there???

Blue for BOY

It's a BOY!

We are so excited to welcome to our family Lucas "Luke" Andrew Douglas Penny.  The name Luke actually came to me in a dream. Andrew Douglas is from Will's twin brother, Drew, who passed away in January 2012. If we had another boy, we definitely wanted to include his name in their somehow. We know we can't replace Drew but we sure can honor him in this way. We are so excited for Will to have the brother he always needed!

November in Review

November 2014 in Review

In November we had more football games in Oxford but the highlight was beating Mississippi State  in Oxford Thanksgiving weekend! Will stayed with the grandparents all weekend and mommy and daddy enjoyed a nice weekend in Oxford eating, shopping, and watching the Rebels play!

We celebrated Thanksgiving Day at my parents house and had a wonderful meal!

We turned Will's baby room into a BIG BOY room in order to prepare for Baby #2. We repainted the walls a light gray color, turned the bed around, got new bedding and curtains made, and hung new pictures. Here is the beginning of the room. Completed room will be later.

Will then decided it was fun to hang out in mommy and daddy's room since he was a Big Boy now!

We had a play date with Anna Grace and Peyton, our cousins, while their mommy and daddy were out of town. We met at the mall and played on the inside playground, rode the horsies (carousel as Will calls it), rode the train around the mall, and then had lunch at Chick-Fil-A. It was a fun day!

Update on Baby Penny #2 for November

We finished our last visit with our doctor in Memphis on October 30th and began seeing our OB regular doctor in Tupelo in November. Baby Penny #2 was doing well and progressing as should be. We took a genetic test on the baby the end of November and all the results were slim to none of Baby Penny #2 having any genetic problems. Thank the Lord! We also found out the gender the Monday before Thanksgiving (we didn't know but my friend did) and had to wait to find out what the Baby would be in December.

October in Review

October 2014 in Review

We spent several weekends in Oxford watching the Ole Miss Rebels play. The highlight of October was beating Alabama which was huge for our football team this year! We watched the students also tear the goal posts down!

We had a few good games for some awesome tailgating in the Circle too!

We found out on my birthday, October 8th, we were expecting another sweet baby which in turn made for once a week trips to Memphis to check on our little peanut!

The firetruck came to Will's school for Fire Safety Week.

In Oxford we also visited our favorite place, St. Peters Church Pumpkin Patch.

We ended October by celebrating Halloween with our Batman in Oxford. Unfortunately we didn't Trick or Treat because it was freezing cold and Will was being to get sick. Oh well!
