Fun weekend in Oxford

The weather was pretty this past weekend so we decided to take a short weekend getaway to Oxford and take Will to an Ole Miss basketball and baseball game. We spent Friday night at the condo and had a great time.

Saturday morning we got up early and went to eat at Big Bad Breakfast and met Doug's parents there.

After breakfast we headed over to the Tad Pad since the Rebels were playing basketball against Florida at 11am. We all had tickets and Will enjoyed his first Ole Miss basketball game. Our seats were all the way at the top which gave us plenty of room with Will. He enjoyed watching the cheerleaders and the black bear. When Henderson hit a 3 pointer the crowd went wild and it was so funny because Will yelled and clapped too. He had a great time.

Will intently kept his eyes on the game while he ate his vanilla wafers and a hot dog. Unfortunately the Rebels lost 75-71 to Florida.

After the basketball game we walked over to Swayze field to watch a baseball game. We got season tickets this year so we are looking forward to many more baseball games. Our seats are right by the 3rd base side and Will had a blast!!! He met Rebel the Black bear, ate a tub of popcorn and had an overall great time. I see lots more baseball games in our future.

We ended a wonderful day in Oxford with a great dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, South Depot Taco Shop, before we headed back home.

Will's first haircut

Will had his first haircut this afternoon. I never thought this day would happen because his hair grows so slow. We have waited two years to get it cut and we decided to get him a little trim. His hair is not that long but needed a little shape up because it was beginning to curl under the ears. So we asked Mrs Sharon at Fairpark Salon to give Will a haircut and she so kindly did.

Thank goodness we had a fun plane to play in while Mrs Sharon cut his hair!

Will looks like a handsome little boy now who is growing WAY TOO fast for this momma.

Happy Valentines Day

On Valentines Day we landed in the pediatrician's office with Will at 7:45 am with an ear infection. Not fun! After getting medicine and Doug taking him home (I had to work), Will is much better and ended up having a good Valentines Day.

We ended up having a nice quiet take out dinner at home and enjoyed each other's company.

Will got a Mickey Mouse and a balloon and he was so happy. We ate cookies from Nana Karen and had a good time playing.

Hope everyone had a great Valentines Day. I'm thankful for my 2 Valentines that I LOVE more than anything in this world! Happy Valentines Day Doug and Will!!!!!!

Oh I forgot to mention that Will and I ended the night by taking funny selfies on the couch.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Party

We finally had Will's 2nd birthday party this past Saturday at the house. The theme was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse because he is obsessed with Mickey Mouse. So I planned the party around Mickey Mouse from the invitations all the way to the food themes.

Will had a great time at his party and the weather was gorgeous later that day so we were able to get outside and enjoy the playground Nana Karen and Poppa Bill got him. Will also got lots of clothes and toys so he is set for a while.

Will woke up bright and early at 7am and ready for his party. He was also able to take a good nap before his party at 12noon so it all worked out well. He was partied out by the time he crashed and went to bed that night.

Will's 2 year check up

Will had a great 2 year check up with his doctor. He weighs 21.1 lbs and is 33 inches tall. He lost about 2 pounds because he had a slight case of pneumonia but that's ok because he is steadily gaining it back. We didn't have any shots this time so we are thankful for that.

The doctor mentioned to us about trying to start potty training and beginning to watch and see if he is ready. I know he's not right now and this momma isn't either. He also said for us to start and try to transition him into a toddler bed with rails if he's ready also so I guess we may try that one weekend to see how he does.

As far as food he LOVES bananas, cheese puffs, hot dogs, bologna, vegetables, crackers and cookies of any kind. He's still not into eggs or macaroni and cheese because I guess he doesn't like the stickiness of them. Who knows?

As far as bedtime routine he pretty much runs like clock work. We eat dinner around 6:30, bath at 7, a little milk, brush our teeth, and then he's in bed by 7:30/7:45. He's getting where he doesn't want us to rock or hold him anymore (which hurts my feelings). He just points to the bed and says "nigh nigh" and we put him in the bed and off he goes to sleep. I don't like this because we like to cuddle at night and wind down but times are changing for him and he's growing up and I don't like it!!! But getting up in the morning is a different story for Will. I have to be at work by 8:30 so I'm usually pulling him out of bed by 7:45, getting him dressed and we are usually out the door by 8 and off to the sitters house.

He LOVES balloons, trucks, cars, balls, cups, and blocks. He can entertain himself for hours with a plastic cup and a block. He goes crazy when he sees a balloon at the grocery store so usually we end up carrying one around the store or we walk out with one.

He can say bubbles, Mae Mae, nana, poppa, pawpaw, pop, go go, bye bye, no no, please, yes, mama, dada, milk, and a bunch of other words. But right now it's mostly Will language and he thinks in his mind that you can understand him.

He loves going to Mrs Bonnie's house. She has a wide range of kids at her house and Will fits right in. I'm glad she is able to keep him until we can get him into our church program. He loves playing with other kids and it's only going to make him stronger and learn much more than what I can do with him. I miss being with him everyday but I know he's in good hands.

I still can't believe my baby is 2!

Happy 2nd Birthday Will

Will turns 2 today! We've had a great day so far. Will got a slight case of pneumonia on Monday so his birthday party was cancelled for Saturday. So we made do and instead enjoyed the day with Will.

For his birthday celebration we started off the day with hash browns (Will's favorite) and eggs.

We played a little today and then went to go visit Drew's grave and put out fresh birthday flowers.

Then we came back home and had chicken nuggets and veggies for lunch.  Another favorite food item of Wills.

Then we all took a good long nap and then had a visit from each of the grandparents. Nana Karen and Poppa Bill brought Will a balloon. This child loves a balloon.

Then Nana Lou and Papaw Steve brought over lasagna, salad and cupcakes. Will loved the lasagna and devoured the cupcakes.

Then we ended the day with a fun bath and an early bed time because we had one tired little two year old.

So happy birthday to the sweetest little 1lb 1oz miracle boy you have become.  Two years ago today when I first laid my eyes on you I never thought you would be as strong and outgoing as you are today. God has big plans for you and I'm so proud of all the little accomplishments you have made in your two years of life. You continue to amaze us each and every day by what you do. Our prayer for you is that God will continue to use you in a way that would bring HIM all the glory. We are so proud of you and love you with all of our hearts!!!!

We will celebrate with everyone later at your Mickey Mouse Clubhouse party in two weeks.
