NICU Day 84

Will had a good night. He has enjoyed his crib so far. He weighs a whooping 3lbs 13.7oz or 1750 grams. He gained 10 grams which is great because babies use a lot of energy when they get to an open crib so they tell you to expect them to loose weight. Not Will, he gained 10 grams! Yeah!

Will's blood work and chest xray all looked great. Dr Nading said that we would probably not be going home until around my due date which is 3 weeks away. He has to have hernia surgery before we go home. They won't consider hernia surgery until he is 2000 grams or 4lbs 4ozy. Also, he has got to get used to feeding every 3 hours and take enough food to be satisfied. Right now we are feeding every 3 hours but every other time is tube fed and the other times we are nursing or bottle feeding. So please join us in praying that Will can eventually feed every 3 hours by bottle or nursed and also we can continue to lower his flow and oxygen levels then we can be considered going home. Yeah and what a glorious day that will be when we can go home.

Will will have his hearing checked this afternoon and his eyes checked again on Wednesday. We are so proud of his major accomplishments! The Lord has definitely been good to us and we are grateful for his every loving care and protection! What a mighty God we serve!

We passed the crib test

We have officially passed the 4 hour temperature crib test and are official. Will's temps have been 97.7, 97.7, 97.9, and 97.8 so we are officially crib tested APPROVED!!!!!!! Now his temperature will be taken every 3 hours when he eats. So exciting!!!!

NICU Day 83 & Happy 12 weeks old

BIG NEWS! Will is in a CRIB!!!!! Ah, we are soooooooooo excited! Will moved into a crib this morning around 9:30am and is doing well so far. He is so far holding his own temperature. They check it every hour for the next 4 hours then if all is well then they won't check it for another 3 hours at every feeding. Please pray that he can continue to stay in a crib and not go back to the incubator. We are praying all day and every hour!

The other changes for today are they do not have to weigh his diaper every time because he is pooping and peeing the right amount. He is also getting to bottle feed or nurse every other time. He will also have lab work and a chest xray tomorrow to see how well his lungs are functioning inside his precious little body.

Also sweet little Will weighs 3lbs 13oz or 1740 grams. He gained 40 grams overnight. He is doing so well today and is 12 weeks old today! Yeah for good improvements!

Our God has been so good to Will and us. We have stayed persistent in prayer and constantly in his word and obeying and listening to what he has to tell us. We've never doubted him because we know he will always take care of us. And he has and has greatly rewarded us with many many special things over the last 4 weeks. We couldn't be more proud to honor and praise his name for the mighty works he has done in Will's life. Our God is an AWESOME GOD!

Nicu Day 82

Will has moved from room 3A to room 14A. So we have moved from the Nicu side to the intermediate care side today. Tomorrow we will try a crib. Yeah for more changes!!

He gained 20 grams last night and weighs 3lbs 12oz or 1700 grams. He will have blood work on Friday. I have to start nursing him again once a shift. He was nursing well at the beginning but fell off the bandwagon for a while and wasn't doing so well.

But that is all the big changes for now.

Nicu Day 81

More BIG changes today!!!!!!!!! We have been served our eviction papers from room 3A and are moving to intermediate or step down care when a room becomes available. Also Will has been turned down to a flow of .5 liters and he has moved from a high flow nasal canual to a regular nasal canual which I refer to it as "he is on the wall" now instead of being on the machine that is on a stand.

He has made big improvements over the last 3 weeks and we are praising God for our precious miracle and his will to fight and preserver. We are in awe of Will's progress that he has made so far.

He stayed the same and didn't gain any weight so he still weighs 3lbs 11oz or 1680 grams. Yeah for the progress made so far.

Nicu Day 80

Big things are gonna happen this week for Will!! He is holding his temperature very well so they are gonna try and move from the incubator to a CRIB Thursday night. Ahhhhhhhhhh I can't contain my excitement because that means if he goes to a crib he can wear clothes and I'm so ready to start dressing Will!!

He gained 30 grams last night and now weighs 3lbs 11oz or 1680 grams. His only orders today are to increase his feedings from 28ml to 32ml.

What a life to be this relaxed!!

Nicu Day 79 & Happy Easter

Will had a great night. He gained 30 grams and now weighs 3lbs 10oz or 1650 grams. The only changes today are to take away his caffeine again and take away the prolacta and go to straight breast milk. Hopefully by doing this he can continue to gain weight. If not then they can supplement a little bit of formula in with the breast milk.

We hope you all have had a Happy Easter!! We are thankful that HE is alive and has given us so much joy with Will.
