A Strange Weekend

Well I was hoping this post would be about our fabulous weekend in Oxford but it is not. We had plans to take Will to Oxford, eat out a lot, spend the night at my parents condo, attend the Red/ Blue game, walk the Square and come home. Well we did make it to Oxford and we did pick up something to eat and we did spend the night but we left Oxford at 6am Saturday morning to come home.

This is how our strange weekend went down. Will developed a runny nose and sneezing Friday while he was at my mom's house. When we picked him up after work he was running a low grade fever around 99.5. We made the decision to go ahead and go to Oxford and we would hope this would pass. Well it didn't! We got to Oxford and Will ate good and slept good until 2am. After that it was all downhill from there. He never went back to sleep until 1pm that afternoon. He would take 15-20 minutes nap here and there. So at 5am we decided to load up and head home. He slept and cried the WHOLE way home. He never cries in the car! After we finally made it home, we fed him and headed to the pediatrician's office by 8am. After a 3 hour wait, a NEGATIVE strep and flu test and a good blood count level we were sent home with no diagnosis (but with only thoughts of a viral infection) and instructions to continue with Benadryl and Tylenol. He looked awful and it puzzled his doctor. He was a yellowish color and he just looked sick. He cried the whole time we were in there waiting and his parents were about to loose it. Trust me we were tired and irritated by this point.

So we went home and Will took a 3 hour nap and we did too. His fever did go up to about 101.9 when we got home so we dosed him up with Tylenol and sent him to bed. This boy was TIRED and so were his parents. After a 3 hour nap that was had by all, we ate dinner and fed Will and he went back to bed and slept 12 hours with only a little cough here and there throughout the night.

So as of today his fever has only been around 100, his coughing is getting better, and his nose is still running but not gushing out. So hopefully after more rest and medicine he will be back to normal. I guess he just got too much exposure to the public with Mother's Day out, sunday school and nursery and the wellness center day care. Oh well we knew he would get sick sometime but oh well life must go on! At least it's not strep, flu or the stomach bug.
